Ronald Sofranko

Ronald Sofranko, 53, Principal of Sofranko Advisory Group, LLC an advisement firm that specializes in strategic business planning, finance, mergers, acquisitions, hospitality, real estate and franchising for all types of businesses. In his 26 year career, Mr. Sofranko has owned 24 restaurants and opened over 90 and has raised over 100 million dollars in debt, equity and leasing in the Hospitality Industry in 3 states. He has employed over 5,000 employees in his career, over 160 chefs and over 320 managers. SAG primarily engages companies that range in size from startup to $20 million in revenue with a specialty in the Hospitality Industry. Throughout our network, we also review 60 to 70 new business opportunities every year to further enhance our business portfolio. SAG limits consulting client’s engagements to only 12 per year to provide personalized attention to individual CEOs, Presidents and Owners. Our goal is to analyze, review all existing operations, financing, marketing and human resources in reaching their goals.

Mr. Sofranko developed a network of over 1600 experienced professionals both locally and nationally and has advised over 100 companies over the past 11 years. Companies and industries include real estate development, computer services, excavating, restaurants, fitness centers, product distribution, catering, website development, tax and accounting, gelato/ice cream operations and franchising.

One of Mr. Sofranko’s latest endeavors is being the Development Partner to the newest hot spot in Cranberry, Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. He has partnered with Rick Jergel and other partners to convert a former 18,000 square foot health club into a restaurant/concert/banquet venue. He helped secure funding for this project, which was at nearly 3.8 million dollars. The restaurant seats 250 people and the performance venue up to 700 people. He is also a Partner in the four Walnut Grill’s and Il Pizzaiolo.

Sofranko Advisory Group has a subsidiary company Hospitality Brokerage Services (HBS). HBS primarily assists clients in Buying, Selling, and Financing Restaurants. In addition HBS is available to help expedite Liquor License Buying/Selling, Business valuations (to properly price and market your business) and reviewing and structuring Accounting Financial Statements to potentially sell your business.

2005-2008 NexTier Bank, V.P. of Family Business Center, served in a Consulting capacity in assisting family businesses.
From 2001 until early 2005 Mr. Sofranko was the founder of Magoo’s Bar & Bistro an upscale casual restaurant located in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. Sales growth of Magoo’s topped double digits for years 2003 and 2004. The company was sold in early 2005.

In 1994 to 1999, Ron was the President/CEO/Founder of Proriver, Inc. the managing company for Red River Barbeque & Grille Restaurants. Red River operated 7 full service casual dining restaurants in the states of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. Red River grew to over 14 Million Dollars in sales in just 4 short years as a free standing operation. Red River had won dozens of national and local restaurant awards including “Top 10 HOT Concepts in the Country” and “Best Barbeque” by the readers of Pittsburgh Magazine. Red River maintained one of the highest average unit volumes in the field of barbeque restaurants in the country. Red River employed over 350 with 32 managers in 3 states and maintained its’ Corporate Headquarters in Wexford, PA. After 1998 an initial planned IPO the company was sold in 1999.

Mr. Sofranko started his career as a previous Executive at Exxon Company, USA in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1985. He then transferred to Houston, Texas as a Geophysicist in 1986. Mr. Sofranko relocated back to the Pittsburgh area and pursued his dream of carrying out his career in entrepreneurship and restaurant development in August of 1987.

Mr. Sofranko graduated in 1983 with a Bachelors in Science and Geology from Waynesburg College in Waynesburg, PA. While at Waynesburg, he played collegiate baseball and operated 2 small businesses while in college. He completed his Masters Degree in Geophysics at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

Mr. Sofranko grew up in Mount Pleasant, PA where he was active in football, baseball, basketball, maintained positions as Class President and Student Council President.

Ronald Sofranko is married to his wife Payge and has outside interests that include his children (Dan, Jarad and Alexa), travel, music, mentoring and speaking on entrepreneurism, basketball, baseball and golfing.
