EXCLUSIVE: New taco joint to debut in Peters Township

A restaurant concept rare in this area is set to make a splash in Peters Township.

After closing down the Dozen Cupcakes last September, owner Doreen Valentine is now working to reopen the 3,050-square-foot location as Sirena Taco Joint & Bar.

Named after the Spanish word for mermaid, Sirena will emphasize fish tacos, offering at least four kinds. There will be also traditional flavors of tacos that could total more than 20 different varieties.

Valentine is working closely with restaurant consultant Ron Sofranko to develop the new concept as well as North Side-based Wall-to-Wall Studios, which is designing the look and branding and came up with the name.
