Social media strategies to promote your restaurant

Adding social media to your marketing plan can hugely create awareness about your restaurant. With more than 1.28M Facebook users and 255 million active twitter users you can’t afford to not be using social media for marketing.  Here are some tips to effectively use social media to spread the word about your business.

Be the customer

Social media is basically an online community or network. To effectively communicate to your customer you need to think like your customer.  Create a consistent tone across all your social media platforms to effectively convey your brand.  If you are a neighborhood bar perhaps have the voice be a favorite bartender or waitress. If you are an upcoming, innovative new restaurant than perhaps your postings should be centered around your chef and his daily creations.

Pictures, pictures, pictures

As we move more and more into a visual age and social media platforms such as instagram continue to increase, it is important to share great pictures of your restaurant, staff, and dishes.  You can also take pictures of your menu and share on social media.  This is especially effective if you have a daily or frequently updated menu.

Post your daily specials

Use social media to get the word out about your daily specials to your consumers.  Restaurant food truck businesses use this method to alert their customers where they will be each day.  You could offer recipes from your chef or bartender, videos and photos of happenings around your restaurant or upcoming events.
