Point of sale systems

How to navigate all the point of sale systems

The choice in point of sale systems (POS) can seem nearly as varied as the choice in restaurants. Like any other aspect of starting a business, you’ll need to do some basic research to determine which system best suits your needs. If you anticipate a high volume of daily sales, such as a corner bakery, you’ll want to look at different systems than if you’re running a fine dining restaurant.

What to consider in your POS

Be sure to ask about customer care when considering a POS system. Though uncommon, from time to time your POS system may experience issues.  Additionally, while all POS systems give you sales data to some degree, the capabilities and clarity of a system’s reporting platform are not all created equally. Your POS system should be able to generate detailed sales reports that not only identify your best selling items and returns, but record margins and measure the effectiveness of your pricing.
